its a multi exposure, so you can see the side in shadow as well as the sun lit side, the jagged edges at full resolution are actually the craters. I did it this way as always wondered if you could photograph the moon if it was in total darkness ie "empty moon" as opposed to "full moon"
I like your philosophy behind the photograph, which explains alot. I've also been looking a little to original ways to add the moon to the scene, but not as in the "empty moon", which sounds actually quite challenging, being aware that the moon is nearly always present, even when the sun doesn't reflect it's light on it.
I really like the photograph you made here and also the processing went fine, but the moon's transition from dark to light feels rather odd, perhaps you should try to work a little more on that.
